Our much-loved Xattriya design makes a comeback. Coloured in a calming blue, this stand out Paat silk saree is crafted with smart self stripes across the length, embellished with time-honoured Xattriya motifs in black and white meenakari, and an artistic border to create a unique statement.
Xattriya Nritya of Assam is one of the principal classical dance forms of India. It has remained a living tradition since its creation by the founder of Vaishnavism in Assam, the great saint Srimanta Sankardev, in 15th century Assam. These dance dramas are usually performed in the community halls (namghar) or monastery temples (sattras). Themes revolve around Krishna leela and Radha, and sometimes about other Vishnu avatars such as Rama and Sita.
