An enchanting masterpiece, this silk cotton mekhela sador showcases Miri motifs of the Mishing tribe and a blissful floral pattern throughout the body. The detailed border is a testimony to the artisans of this region.
The Mishing or Mising is one of the largest ethnic groups of Assam. It's not know exactly where they migrated from, but it is popularly believed that they were dwellers of the hills of present day Arunachal Pradesh. This explains the cultural and linguistic similarities they have with many tribes in Arunachal Pradesh.
