The golden glow of Muga spun silk motifs on a slate grey canvas, the pearl sheen of pure Eri silk yarns and the caress of Ahimsa silk - all comes together to make this stunning saree a treasure to pass on to the next generation.

Muga spun silk is made from short lengths obtained from damaged Muga cocoons or broken off during processing, twisted together to make yarn, carded and spun.

The intricate mix of motifs on the pallu, inspired by the deeply revered Bel leaf, and the woven border bear testimony to the dexterity achieved by our weavers.

Bel tree (bilvashtakam) is said to have great importance in Hindu puja. The leaves of this tree are generally trifolic - a leaf that's divided into three leaflets - which are believed to represent the trinetra or three eyes of lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, the leaf also represents the holy trinity - Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh.

All TSC products are handcrafted from scratch, using the finest materials. The subtle variations in colour, texture and finish are intrinsic to hand made products. Our products involve crafts-based traditions of hand spinning, dyeing and weaving.

Care Instructions:

  • Dry clean only.

  • Store your Assam silk saree in the breathable cotton dustbag we provide with your purchase.

  • Avoid exposure to moisture as zari tends to react to weather changes.

  • Air your Assam silk saree from time to time and re-fold to avoid creasing at the same place for an extended period of time.

We use both natural/plant-based and azo-free commercial dyes with the goal of minimising our impact on the environment while striving for the best colour properties. An irregular weave is not a defect - handloom by definition means uncertainty when it comes to uniformity.

Disclaimer: Product colour may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor setting.
