Taking inspiration from the Bodo tribe's Dokhona and Phul Mwbla (varieties of bloomed flowers) design, we feature our garnet red silk cotton saree in brick red with multicoloured floral motifs. Our organic cotton sarees, handspun and handwoven by women of lower Brahmaputra valley, have intricate weaves but are exceptionally light.
Weaving is an integral part of the Bodo culture. Every Bodo home has a loom and the woman of the house weaves clothes for herself and her family, during her spare time. A skill passed on from mother to daughter, the Bodo woman would weave traditional clothing items like the Dokhona (a sari-like garment worn by Bodo women), Aronai (scarf) and the Gamosa (a multipurpose shawl-like garment), as well as other clothing requirements of the family.
