A symphony of tradition and craftsmanship, this lustrous Paat silk mekhela sador in onyx has an elaborate border painstakingly woven over weeks and is bejewelled with Karbi tribal motifs in Muga and white Eri meenakari. A perfect drape for those special occasions where you want to stand out and embrace the magic of the night.

Mekhela Sador is the traditional Assamese drape worn by women in Assam. It is a two-piece set consisting of a lower garment called the Mekhela, folded into pleats and is worn waist down over a petticoat. The upper garment called the Sador is pleated or let loose at the end like a saree pallu.

Made from: 100% pure Paat (mulberry) silk

Sador: 2.80m (approx.)

Mekhela: 1.75m x 2m (approx. circumference)

Blouse: 1m (approx.)

Making time: Approx. 200 labour hrs. (22-25 days)

  • Store your Assam silk drape in breathable cotton dust bag we provide with your purchase.
  • Avoid exposure to moisture as zari tends to react to weather changes.
  • Air your Assam silk drape from time to time and re-fold to avoid creasing at the same place for an extended period of time.
