Experience the beauty of this pure Eri silk saree in indigo, a surefire head turner! Finely embellished with Xingho (lion) motifs, the newest addition to our design vocabulary, and complemented by aesthetically woven pahar (hill) motifs in turmeric Eri silk, this gorgeous drape is the hallmark of Assam's finest craftsmanship.

Our Xingho design draws inspiration from the Satras of Majuli - the hub of Neo-Vaishnavite culture. The entryways of these Satras or monasteries are flanked by mythical lion-like animals to keep watch and were historically placed to ward off any negative energies. You will find them poised with a ferocious stance, up on their front paws or with one up in the air, ready to attack. They were said to symbolise good luck, safety and protection for the inhabitants of the spaces they defend.

Natural dyed fabrics need special care owing to the properties of the dyes. Some natural dyed products tend to fade over a period of time - please do not consider it as a defect.

Natural dyes are living colours, a slight fading is the core property and beauty of these textiles.

Care Instructions:

  • Dry clean only.

  • Store your Assam silk saree in the breathable cotton dustbag we provide with your purchase.

  • Avoid exposure to moisture as zari tends to react to weather changes.

  • Air your Assam silk saree from time to time and re-fold to avoid creasing at the same place for an extended period of time.

We use both natural/plant-based and azo-free commercial dyes with the goal of minimising our impact on the environment while striving for the best colour properties. An irregular weave is not a defect - handloom by definition means uncertainty when it comes to uniformity.

Disclaimer: Product colour may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor setting.
